Two Arrested In Tazewell County In Connection With Wednesday Murder

Two Southwest Virginia men are jailed in connection to a murder of another man in Tazewell County Virginia. The Tazewell County Sheriff’s Office arrested 38 year old Gabriel Peery on second degree murder and malicious wounding charges. Also arrested is 21 year old John Austin Fields of Chilhowie on Malicious Wounding and Conspiracy to commit murder. Authorities discovered the body of 63 year old Douglas French deceased outside his residence with evidence that an attack or assault led to his death. The Sheriff’s Office also responded to another assault of a man in the Thompson Valley part of the county. Following a multiple agency investigation Peery and Fields were apprehended. There are also charges pending against a female for her involvement in the matter. Authorities say Perry was acquainted with both victims and the investigation is continuing.
