UPDATE: Convicted killer in Kingsport candle shop shooting denied post-convection relief
A man serving two life-sentences for execution-style killings at a Kingsport candle shop has been denied post-conviction relief by the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals.
Jawaune Massey had argued his attorneys were ineffective when he was ordered to wear a stun vest during his jury trial. An appeals court judge wrote that Massey’s attorney testified that he never complained about the vest during the proceedings.
Massey was convicted in 2012 for the 2005 murders of Jeffrin Nolan and Terrance Alexander at the Sole candle shop on Myrtle Street.
The Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office said Nolan’s shop was a front for a cocaine operation and Massey had gone there that night to rob Nolan.
