Southwest Virginia Superintendent Named To Governor’s Education Work Group
A Southwest Virginia Superintendent of Schools has been selected along with other Virginia educators to serve on Governor Ralph Northam’s Education Work Group. Dr. Dennis Carter, Superintendent of Smyth County Schools will work with other educators in the group to help guide the process for a safe, equitable reopening of schools in the Commonwealth. The education stakeholders will help chart a path forward for determining how schools can safely reopen later this year. Dr. Carter joins represenatives from Virginia’s public and private early childhood, K-12 and Higher Education systems and includes teachers, superintendents, parents, college presidents and other state agency personnel.
