Southwest Virginia Localities Receive ARC Fund Grants
Several southwest Virginia localities are beneficiaries of a half million dollars in grants from the Appalachian Regional Commission for projects in the Virginia coalfields. The Southwest Regional Recreation Authority of Virginia received 300 thousand dollars for the Catalyst for Growth in Developing the Tourism Economy of the Coalfields project. Those funds will be used to expand a trail system for outdoor recreation. Meanwhile, The Town of St. Paul picked up a 200 thousand dollar grant for Phase 11 of the Historic Lyric Theatre renovation. The projects funded by the ARC will create jobs, attract visitors, and grow the economy of the coalfields in southwest Virginia.
