Brightridge Utility And Other Electric Companies Get Green Light For Local Generation Of Electricity
An environmental assessment by the TVA has given the green light for the Brightridge Utility Company in Johnson City to enter into a planning phase for a potential nine megawatt solar farm project in northern Washington County, Tennessee. The assessment found no significant impact that will green light most local power companies across the Tennessee Valley to locally generate a portion of its own load to meet customer needs. Brightridge CEO Jeff Dykes says the go ahead by TVA is very positive for the community and the utility sees a need for local generation right now. The nine megawatt solar farm project is an opportunity to save customers significantly on retail electric rates over time as well as provide access to cleaner energy.
