Greeneville man killed in late night crash in Hawkins County

One person is dead and another has charges pending following a fatal crash Monday night in Hawkins County.

Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers say the crash happened just after 10:00 p.m on Highway 66 South near Big Springs Road. A report says Jonathan Tackett, 27, of Rogersville, was traveling north in a 2006 Nissan Altima and crossed into the center line, colliding with a 1989 Nissan pickup truck driven by Daniel Lee, 20, of Greeneville.

THP says Lee was killed in the wreck, while Tackett was injured. Troopers say Tackett was not wearing his seatbelt.

The accident remains under investigation and criminal charges as well as citations are pending against Tackett.
