UPDATE: Director of Tennessee’s online betting commission leaves post

Tennessee’s director of online sports betting has left her role before the first bet was ever placed.

A Tennessee Lottery official confirmed the departure of Jennifer Roberts who is leaving the state post for a position with a video game gambling company.

Sports betting in the Volunteer state became law without the signature of Governor Bill Lee and the formal rules for the enterprise were approved in April.

Johnson City business owner Hanes Torbett is a member of an oversight committee that will help regulate licensing and other legal aspects of gambling operations.
