89 Tennessee Counties Now Have Authority To Issue Mask Requirements
Tennessee Governor Bill Lee signs another executive order, this one to give mayors in 89 Tennessee counties the authority to issue local mask requirements due to the rise in COVID-19 cases. The Governor says Tennessee’s densely populated urban areas continue to have the highest COVID-19 case rates and executive order 54 was signed in response to local governments expressing a need for greater flexibility in addressing a rise in cases . The Governor encouraged Tennesseans across the state to use a face covering or mask and to practice social distancing and wash hand frequently. Sullivan County and five other counties will retain the existing authority to issue mask requirements as needed.
