UPDATE: Virginia Highlands Community College in Abingdon reports first COVID case
A building on the campus of Virginia Highlands Community College was reopened Monday following the school’s first case of COVID-19.
A report from the Abingdon school said they learned of the person’s potential exposure on Thursday and a positive virus case was confirmed late Friday. The school noted that the person diagnosed was in a classroom setting while on the property.
The Mount Rogers Health District worked with those who were potentially exposed and has them quarantined for 14 days while the building was closed for the weekend for a thorough cleaning using CDC guidelines.
