JCPD says reckless driver snarled rush hour by running tractor-trailer off I-26
The actions of a reckless driver in Johnson City resulted in a tractor-trailer crash at the height of rush hour on Interstate 26 on Monday.
A report from the Johnson City Police Department said Kevin Hartsell is charged with one count of felony reckless endangerment.
Investigators said callers on the interstate reported Hartsell, 30, swerving his SUV in and out of traffic just before 5 p.m. while breaking abruptly. They said Hartsell then forced an 18-wheeler driver to move onto the Exit 13 off-ramp where the rig went through a grass median and then collided with Hartsell’s vehicle.
The suspect then tried to fight with the driver of the rig before his arrest. Hartsell is scheduled to be arraigned in Sessions Court in Jonesborough.
