UPDATE: Casino gaming referendum officially placed on ballot for November election in Bristol, VA
An order from Bristol, VA Circuit Court has granted a referendum on casino gaming to officially be placed on the ballot for the November election.
City Manager Randy Eads confirmed to Supertalk that the court issued the order last Friday, and now the fate of the years long plan to have a casino in the region rests in the hands of voters in under four months.
Real estate developers Jim McGlothlin and Clyde Stacy have spearheaded a project involving Hard Rock International that if approved by voters, would see the development of a nearly 1,000 room resort and casino that would include retail shops and an arena for concerts.
Below is the yes or no question voters will be asked:
“Shall casino gaming be permitted at a casino gaming establishment in the City of Bristol, Virginia at 500 Gate City Highway, Bristol, Virginia 24201 (former Bristol Mall) as may be approved by the Virginia Lottery Board?”
