UPDATE: Public review begins for sports betting regulations in Virginia
Virginia Lottery officials continue to craft rules for a potential lucrative sports betting market in the Commonwealth.
Lottery Executive Director Kevin Hall says they continue to develop sports wagering regulations that are now up for public review for a 60-day period. The bill passed by the General Assembly calls for rules to be vetted by September.
The agency’s board will then evaluate applications for those wanting to operate gambling enterprises in Virginia beginning in October.
As many as 12 permits could be issued and Hall says they could be operational by January.
