Greeneville City Schools to start academic year on-time, but online for 1-12 grade students
Greeneville City Schools will start its 2020-21 academic year with most students learning in a virtual format.
School board members voted in favor Tuesday night to have 1st-12th grade students start classes online, while Pre-K and Kindergarten students will have the option to attend schools in person with a staggered schedule. The academic year will also start on time, with classes beginning Aug. 5.
The board granted Director of Schools Steve Starnes the ability to amend the school calendar and framework plan as needed without board meetings, and the learning format agreed upon at Tuesday’s meeting will run through at least Aug. 21, with Aug. 24 being the earliest for a potential change to the reopening plans.
