Washington County, VA start of academic year delayed to Aug. 24
The Washington County, VA Board of Education has voted to delay the start of the school system’s academic year by two weeks.
During a called meeting Wednesday morning, the board decided to follow through with Superintendent of Schools Dr. Brian Ratliff’s recommendation to move the first day of classes from Aug. 10 to Aug. 24. Teachers will still report to work on Aug. 10 with some flexibility to gain additional support for things like more training on remote learning.
When the start of the academic year begins, as of now the system will operate under its hybrid model.
