UPDATE: Trial for former assistant district attorney McArdle moved to February
A former Washington County, Tennessee assistant district attorney accused of using her position in a federal extortion case will now face trial in February.
Court documents show a magistrate judge agreed to an attorney’s request to have hearings for Erin McArdle and her former boyfriend Tommy Henry rescheduled for next year in lieu of an August 27 start.
Prosecutors said McArdle used her authority to have two cases in criminal court dismissed in exchange for money in 2014 and 2015 including one payment for $50,000. The pair were indicted by a federal grand jury in June. McArdle resigned from her position in April.
Pretrial hearings are scheduled for court in Knoxville on Oct. 28.
