Low income families in Southwest Virginia as well as the rest of the Commonwealth who are in need or will be in need due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, will soon be receiving financial help through funding from the Housing and Urban Development . The money can be used by Public Housing Agencies to help families assisted by Housing Choice Vouchers and Mainstream vouchers prevent, prepare for and respond to the coronavirus. The agency is providing nearly nine million dollars. The funding will provide additional resources to public housing authorities to make sure people have a decent, safe and affordable place to call home.
