Fully Virtual Instruction Could Lead To Temporary Voluntary Layoffs In Bristol Virginia Schools
Bristol Virginia School Superintendent Dr. Keith Perrigan says if a decision is made to move the school system to a fully virtual instructional environment for an extended time, the school system will be unable to provide the same level of employment stability for hourly personnel that the system did in the spring. As a result, temporary voluntary layoffs would be the first option to consider. The comments came in a letter to parents from Perrigan which also stated the school system is now requiring face coverings for all students PK-12 grade. Students will return to school on August 20 under the In Person, Hybrid Model, unless health metrics determine otherwise.
