Erwin Police: Man arrested after allegedly firing multiple shots near grocery store
A man in Erwin is facing attempted murder charges after authorities say he fired several shots from an AR 15 near the parking lot of Food Lion.
A news release from Erwin Police say they were called to North Main Ave on a report of multiple shots fired. Police say they located suspect Raymond Salazar, 35, yelling at someone in the parking lot of Food Lion while standing in front of a home.
A victim claimed Salazar came to his home and stole a phone and watch at gun point. The victim said he used the find my device app to track his phone and followed the suspect to another home, when he said Salazar came back out of the house with an AR type rifle and fired multiple shots at him. Upon investigation, Salazar was identified as the defendant, and taken into custody.
No injuries were reported as multiple witnesses saw the shooting take place. He is being held in the Unicoi County Jail.
