Second lawmaker in Tennessee General Assembly confirms positive virus test

An Ooltewah representative has become the second member of the Tennessee General Assembly to be treated for the coronavirus.

Officials with Rep. Mike Carter’s office said he is currently in ICU receiving treatment. Carter was one of several Republicans criticized for not wearing a mask during a Lincoln Day dinner in Hamilton County last month. That included GOP US Senate candidate Bill Hagerty.

Carter was missing from last week’s special called session in Nashville. Kent Calfee, a House member from Kingston, said he had tested positive for the virus but was asymptomatic.

Feeling a little better this morning but expect ups and downs during recovery.
