NEW: Fulmer says Tennessee planning for 25 percent capacity at Neyland Stadium for upcoming SEC schedule
University of Tennessee Athletic Director Phil Fulmer said Tuesday that his department is planning for Neyland Stadium seating capacity to be at 25 percent if fans are permitted for games this fall.
That would allow approximately 25,000 fans into the venue with a social distancing layout beginning with the Vols home opener against Missouri on Oct. 3.
Fulmer also said during Tuesday’s media event in Nashville with Governor Bill Lee that it was the effort of health officials and Bristol Motor Speedway last month during the NASCAR All-Star Race that “paved the way” for the possibility of fans on game day on Saturdays.
While attending games is a possibility, UT Chancellor Donde Plowman said last week that tailgating would not be permitted due to the virus guidelines of no gatherings of 10 or more people.
