Court presentments: Megan Boswell crafted creative reasons behind Baby Evelyn’s disappearance and death
Presentments submitted to a Sullivan County grand jury indicate Baby Evelyn Boswell died at the hands of her mother sometime in December.
Felony murder was just one of the 19 charges Megan Boswell faces following her indictment. Those documents also show the teen mom became creative during her interviews with investigators concerning how the toddler died.
In one interview in February, Megan Boswell said Evelyn was with her father Ethan Perry, a soldier in the military stationed in Louisiana, and he refused to answer her texts about Evelyn following a fight over custody, according to one document.
The next day, she told an FBI agent she could not handle caring for the 18-month-old girl. Later in the month, she told a TBI agent that her mother Angela Boswell had Evelyn but refused to share where she was being kept and would not see her again unless Megan paid her money, said information published in the presentment.
On February 25, the District Attorney’s office wrote in their document that Megan lied to county and state investigators saying Evelyn died when she or Hunter Wood, a man Megan said she was dating and was employed by at his eatery business, rolled over onto the toddler while they were sleeping in bed. The document also said Megan had no idea where the baby’s body was located during that conversation.
“After an extensive and thorough investigation, other individuals were eliminated as suspects and Megan Boswell became the sole suspect in this case,” Sullivan County Sheriff Jeff Cassidy said during a Wednesday news conference.
