Fulmer says COVID financial woes bear down on Tennessee athletic department
University of Tennessee Athletic Director Phil Fulmer describes his department as financially-strapped due to COVID-19 circumstances.
In a letter sent to season ticket holders, Fulmer says he took a 15 percent pay cut to help school officials keep budget items in check but their revenues could still experience a $40 million to $50 million loss due to reduced attendance at Neyland Stadium. He also said that only necessary measures are being approved and other cost-cutting options will be examined.
Fulmer announced Tuesday social distancing crowds capped at 25 percent capacity will be allowed in Neyland for home games this season if approved.
