Teen mom Megan Boswell indicted on 19 counts, accused of abusing, neglecting, killing Baby Evelyn
A search began in February and lasted 16 days. Sullivan County mother Megan Boswell gave investigators different stories about her missing daughter, 18-month-old Evelyn.
Evidence presented in court Wednesday was enough to prove to a grand jury there was probable cause to charge the teen mom with murder.
“Our hearts and prayers go out to the family and friends who loved Baby Evelyn along with the many citizens who, like us, developed deep-seated love for this sweet little girl,” said TBI Director David Rausch in Sullivan County at a press conference at the Justice Center in Blountville.
Boswell remains jailed on a $1 million bond. She now faces 19 counts in criminal court as the state accuses her of abusing, neglecting, and killing Baby Evelyn then planting her corpse inside a storage shed on family property off Muddy Creek Road where it was discovered in March.
“She didn’t deserve this. No child does,” Rausch said.
How the child died still remains a mystery as Evelyn’s autopsy records remain sealed under court order.
“We will continue to work to pursue justice in this case. It’s the best and most important thing we can do to honor her memory,” Rausch said.
Megan Boswell is scheduled for a hearing next Friday.
