Report: Travel spending in TN topped a record $23 billion in 2019
Newly released numbers from the US Travel Association says TN spent a record $23 billion in travel spending in 2019.
The state department of tourist development reported those figures Tuesday, also saying the Travel Association found the state to have 126 million domestic stays in the state last year, up from 119 million in 2018. The department says prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the state was once again on track for records travel figures to be set.
The report predicts because of the effects from COVID-19, Tennessee’s travel economy could decline between 35-45% this year. The tourism development department has received $25 million in CARES Act funding to remarket the devastated industry because of the pandemic.
