Sewage Overflow Problem Forces Water Advisory In Russell County
An ongoing, raw, sewage overflow issue in Russell County has prompted the Virginia Department of Health to advise residents against using two water systems for recreational use and consumption of fish. The health department says residents should not swim, wade, boat, tube or consume fish from portions of Lewis Creek and the Clinch River in Russell County. The sewage problem stems from the collection system of the wastewater treatment plant serving the Town of Honaker. The advisories are in effect until further notice.
