THP: 8-year old receives non-life threatening injuries after being hit by bus in Carter County

An 8-year old child received non-life threatening injuries after being hit by a bus in Carter County Tuesday afternoon.

A Tennessee Highway Patrol crash report says a school bus was traveling north on South Cedar St. while the juvenile was riding a bicycle on Trudy Ave. The crash report says the child did not stop at a stop sign and traveled into the intersection where he was struck by the front of the bus.

Director of Schools Tracey McAbee said in a Facebook post the child reportedly lost control of his bike and was not a student of Carter County.

No children were on the bus at the time of the accident.
