UVA Wise Awarded One Point Six Million Dollars To Support Low Income, First Generation, and Students with Disabilities Succeed
A program at the University of Virginia’s College at Wise that helps low income, first generation and students with disabilities succeed in college will continue with the help of more than a million dollars in federal grant money. A federal student Support Services grant totaling more than one point six million dollars over the next five years will go to support college students who are low income, or first generation college students or students with disabilities. The services include academic tutoring, financial aid advice, career and college mentoring, help in choosing courses as well as other forms of assistance. The Student Support Services program has been at UVA Wise since 1973.
