Annual Boone Lake cleanup scheduled for Saturday
The Boone Lake Association’s 21st annual lake cleanup day is taking place on Saturday.
The event is occurring later in the year than normal because of COVID-19 and officials say this year’s cleanup will be reduced in size. The event however, will maintain focus on removing trash, tires, and debris from Boone Lake’s water and shorelines. Cleanup will mainly occur at three different sites around the lake including the Pickens Bridge at Jays Dock, Lakeview Marina, and Boone Lake Marina.
Organizers ask volunteers wear masks if participating. At the conclusion of Saturday’s event, there will be a drawing for cash and gift card prize. Because of the current pandemic, there will be no picnic after the event. The usual venue at Winged Deer Park is closed, and due to the virus, the Association has decided to forego this portion of the cleanup for 2020.
This year’s event is scheduled from 9 a.m to 3 p.m.
