US DOL Unemployment Claims Report 9/10: 25,715 first time claims filed last week in TN and VA
Close to 26,000 first time jobless claims were filed last week in Tenn. and Va.
The US Dept. of Labor’s weekly unemployment claims report says for the week ending Sept. 5, 11,706 first time claims were filed in Tenn., while 14,009 first time claims were filed in Va. Tenn. experienced a nearly 2,000 claim drop from the last reporting week, while Va. gained almost 4,000 first time claims.
Locally, 698 first time unemployment claims were filed and 9,314 claims were continued in Northeast Tenn. Below is the statewide and local breakdown of first time and continued claims:
