UPDATE: 60 of 132 Virginia public school districts holding in-person classes at least two days a week

Close to half of school systems in the Commonwealth are having all grade students attend in-person at least two days or more a week.

The latest review of the Virginia Department of Education state snapshot shows of the 132 public school districts, 60 are participating in full in-person, partial in-person, or all hybrid learning. Below are the DOE definitions of each operating method:

In-Person: 4+ days of in person instruction for each student (10 divisions operating in this method)
Partial In-Person: 4+ days in person for some students (usually in younger grades), hybrid or remote for all other students (25 divisions operating in this method)
All Hybrid: all students with some in person and some remote (none hitting the 4/days a week threshold) (25 divisions operating in this method)

In Southwest Virginia, just four districts remain fully remote including Smyth County, Washington County, Wise County, and Wythe County. Lee County Schools joined seven other systems in the region going at least partially in-person, as they started back on a hybrid schedule Monday.

The districts of Bristol, Buchanan County, Norton, and Tazewell County are the lone systems conducting full in-person classes.
