Southwest Virginia Now Has Highest Positive Rate Of COVID-19 Cases In Commonwealth
Governor Ralph Northam on Tuesday pointed to Southwest Virginia as an area of concern due to its high positivity rate of COVID-19 cases. The state’s rate rate has dropped for the last 12 days. However, Southwest Virginia’s rate of eight point one percent is the highest in the Commonwealth. Northam says he’s concerned because Southwest Virginia is less populated than the rest of the state, but has the highest rate and also has fewer hospital beds for COVID-19 patients. Northam made the comments during a COVID-19 briefing in Richmond on Tuesday.
