Tennessee’s unemployed must start filing weekly work searches again beginning Oct. 4
Tennessee residents currently unemployed and receiving benefits will once again have to show proof they are searching for work.
This was a requirement by the state eventually suspended because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Those receiving unemployment benefits will have to start filling out weekly work search activities during the week of Sept. 27 for documentation on Oct. 4, and every week after should they continue searching for work.
Among those exempt from this requirement includes workers that have been temporarily laid off but have an expected return to work date, union workers, and individuals out of work due to one of the COVID-19 reasons listed on the CARES Act if they self-certify they are unable to look for work due to one of those designations.
