November 2021 trial scheduled for City of Bristol, Va lawsuit against BVU
A federal judge has set a trial date for a lawsuit filed by the City of Bristol, Va against Bristol Virginia Utilities.
Court documents originally filed in Bristol, Va Circuit Court by the city claims BVU has refused to pay a dime of the millions of dollars in proceeds they say they are owed from the sale of the utility’s OptiNet division in 2018. The OptiNet division was sold to Sunset Digital who has now become Point Broadband.
The city is seeking at least $6.5 million in compensatory damages. The suit was moved to US District Court in Abingdon in August.
A five day trial has been set for mid-November 2021.
