Sullivan Co. BOE approves plan for K-12 to return to in-person classes
The Sullivan County Board of Education has approved a plan for an eventual K-12 return to face-to-face learning.
School leaders in a 5-2 vote approved Director of Schools Dr. David Cox’s plan with an amendment, that will see K-8 students go back to in-person learning starting Sept. 28 four days a week, with Wednesday used as a remote learning day.
High School students will stay on the district’s hybrid model schedule until after fall break, where those students, along with K-8 students will come back to classes five days a week starting Oct. 19. This plan is only for families who have chosen the in-person option for their students, and those who want to stay remote need to make that decision by Sept. 23.
The board will meet on Oct. 8 to address current COVID-19 data and any potential attendance issues before the plan were to take effect.
