UPDATE: Suspect, victim identified in weekend’s homicide in Wythe County, Va

Authorities in Wythe County, VA are investigating a homicide that occurred Saturday night which left one man dead.

The Wythe County Sheriff’s Office reports they were called to a residence on Vineland Dr. in the Barron Springs community where deputies were told a male had a gunshot wound to the chest. Police arrived to the home and found that individual, identified as Chad Allen Norris, 30, deceased.

The suspect, Joel Hosey, 61 who was also on scene, was taken into custody. The incident is being investigated as a homicide from domestic violence, as Norris was Hosey’s stepson.

Hosey is charged with second degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He is being held without bond in the New River Valley Regional Jail.
