Northeast Tennessee Lawmakers Get Update On Status Of Tri Cities Airport During COVID-19 Pandemic
Tri Cities Airport, lost nearly 90 percent of its customer base as the COVID-19 Pandemic began taking its grip on the region last February and March. Tuesday, Northeast Tennessee Legislators got an update on how things are going at the airport. Tri Executive Director Gene Cossey says thanks to CARES ACT funding, the airport was able to survive and hopes to turn the attention to recruitment of businesses at the airport’s Aerospace Park.Tri Cities Airport is governed by the Airport Authority made up of represenatives from each region the airport serves in the Tri Cities.
