Bristol, Va Police Officer suspended, investigation underway into verbal altercation with driver captured on video
A Bristol, Va Police Officer has been administratively suspended and an investigation is underway following a verbal altercation captured on cell phone video over the weekend.
That information was confirmed by Bristol, Va City Manager Randy Eads, who did not name the officer but said the investigation would be complete within the next two weeks. The verbal altercation, posted to Facebook, showed an argument between driver Alex Shand and a BVPD officer during a traffic stop on October 2. One officer said he tried to flash his lights at Shand to try and get him to turn his lights on.
Shand told local media outlets he received a ticket in the stop for not having his headlights on. The police department acknowledged the video and in a separate Facebook post, said the matter is being investigated and will be handled once all information is gathered.
