UPDATE: Northam authorizes $12 million to help Virginia renters, homeowners, landlords during pandemic
With federal stimulus dollars still being debated, Virginia Governor Ralph Northam announced a $12 million infusion to a fund that will help residents and landlords stay current on payments and avoid foreclosure.
The funds are being allocated from CARES act money awarded to the Commonwealth during the pandemic crisis. Northam says the new dollars were needed because there is still a high number of homeowners and renters requesting help.
Families with children represent the majority of those asking for financial assistance, according to the report.
