Wreaking ‘Havoc’: State Police K9 officer credited with track down of suspect in Dickenson County
A Dickenson County man led police on a pursuit for several miles on the road and in the woods until a four-legged officer with Virginia State Police wreaked ‘havoc’ with his getaway.
K9 Officer Havoc was credited with his first successful track after he hunted down Linzie Humes in the Coeburn Road area, according to county and state officials.
Deputies tried to stop Humes after he ran a red light in Clintwood. They chased him in his vehicle until he became stuck in the mud and he then ran on foot and avoided officers until the K9 spotted him.
Havoc was rewarded by his handler Trooper J. Nichols with ice cream for his tracking ability.
