JCPD: Big Stone Gap, Va man arrested, accused of firing gunshots at victims outside bar early Sunday
A Big Stone Gap, Va is in jail facing several charges after allegedly firing gunshots at people outside of a Johnson City bar early Sunday.
Johnson City Police say they were alerted to gunfire in the downtown area and when they arrived to a parking lot on W State of Franklin Rd, they saw suspect Terrell Coward, 31, standing beside a vehicle that had several bullet holes in it and shell casings laying on the ground.
Authorities say an investigation found Coward was at a bar, got into an altercation with victims, and reportedly got a gun from his vehicle then shot at victims who returned fire at him in self-defense. No one was injured in the incident, and Coward was arrested.
He is facing the following charges: two counts of aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, unlawful possession of a weapon and simple possession of marijuana. He is being held on a $53,000 bond in the Washington County, TN Detention Center and is due in court Monday.
