Virginia woman could get jail time, fine for bear feeding in Gatlinburg captured on TikTok
A viral video viewed by thousands resulted in a Virginia woman being charged with a misdemeanor in Tennessee.
The footage was captured last month in Gatlinburg and it showed Kristin Farris, 21, of Danville, feeding watermelon to a bear. The clip has been seen more than 500,000 times on the TikTok app.
What Farris didn’t know was the dangerous activity is also illegal—she’s charged by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency with one count of illegal black bear feeding in Sevier County. Farris will have to appear in Sessions Court in the near future to plead her case.
The TWRA says the charge is punishable with up to six months in jail and a $500 fine.
