Family fight over guns leads to attempted murder charge

Police said a family squabble over a gun collection led to a Kingsport man to assault a woman with a baseball bat.

Bryan D Hicks, 61, is charged with attempted second-degree murder and domestic aggravated assault after he reportedly hit the victim twice in the head, according to an incident report.

The woman was able to fend off Hicks and call 911 from her vehicle parked on the property on Steadman Street. Hicks admitted to the assault during his interview with an officer.
