TN Sec. of State: Over 1 million Tennesseans have early voted in 2020 election
Over 1 million people in Tennessee have voted throughout the first six days of the early voting period for the 2020 election.
That figure was confirmed Wednesday by Tenn. Secretary of State Tre Hargett, who also posted to social media that between in-person and absentee voting, it has shattered numbers posted in the same time period for the previous two presidential election years, with a 47% from the 2016 election and a 79% from the 2012 election.

Through Tuesday, nearly 68,000 people have voted locally, with Sullivan County reporting the most with 24,308 votes cast. Below is a local breakdown of voting numbers for both in-person and absentee through the first six days:
Carter- 4,199 early votes, 1,134 absentee votes, 5,333 total votes
Greene- 5,032 early votes, 1,808 absentee votes, 6,840 total votes
Hawkins- 6,498 early votes, 1,045 absentee votes, 7,543 total votes
Johnson- 2,401 early votes, 343 absentee votes, 2,744 total votes
Sullivan- 20,619 early votes, 3,689 absentee votes, 24,308 total votes
Unicoi- 3,112 early votes, 340 absentee votes, 3,452 total votes
Washington- 13,994 early votes, 3,648 absentee votes, 17,642 total votes
Total- 55,855 early votes, 12,007 absentee votes, 67,862 total votes
Election Day is November 3rd and the early voting period in TN runs through Oct. 29.
