Prisoner accused in violent attack on corrections officer at Lee County prison testifies he has ‘power to cure coronavius’

A federal inmate charged with the violent assault of a correctional officer at a US Penitentiary in Lee County, Virginia, testified last month that he needs to be released on bond before his trial because he has powers to cure the coronavirus.

Documents from US District Court in Big Stone Gap say a judge is currently reviewing a psychiatric review of Pheathine Quinn, 26, who is facing five felonies including assault with intent to murder.

Quinn was indicted in June for the October 2019 stabbing of the guard who received numerous wounds from a prison-made shank.

He told the judge he was born with a divine power that he could use to heal everyone with the virus.

The judge denied the request and ordered him to remain in custody. Quinn currently has a trial scheduled to begin Nov. 5.
