Report: October brings higher risk of deer versus vehicle collisions
This is the time of year when deer are on the move because of hunters and mating season.
This also increases chances for drivers to have animal collisions on the highway. An annual report from State Farm that ranks deer versus vehicle crashes says neighboring West Virginia is the state with the highest number of those incidents.
The company ranks Virginia as a high-risk state due to crashes and insurance claims while Tennessee is classified as medium risk.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol reported Friday a total of 49 fatalities and more than 3,600 crashes were recorded last fiscal year due to deer collisions.
Travel safely, deer are on the move. If you see one 🦌 crossing the road, look closely another 🦌 is nearby.
