UPDATE: Some Virginia DMV centers have three-month wait for appointments
Nearly all of the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles’ customer care centers are booked three months solid due to a backlog of requests.
DMV officials are urging auto operators to renew their driver’s license or plate registration or apply for a title replacement on the agency’s website because of the demand.
The pandemic resulted in Governor Ralph Northam closing all 75 DMV offices statewide. A large percentage of those reopened in the summer but the amount of work has resulted in only 11,000 residents being served per day compared with 17,000 per day last year.
