VSP: One dead, two injured in Route 460 crash in Tazewell County
A Buchanan County, Virginia driver was killed Tuesday afternoon following a two-vehicle crash on Route 460 in Tazewell County.
A report from State Police said Kyle T. Ward, 67, of Vansant, was pronounced dead at the scene while the other driver identified Mary G. Lester, 54, of Tazewell was transported to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The agency’s preliminary investigation says Ward was driving in the Pounding Mill area outside of Claypool Hill at the Route 637 intersection when troopers said he failed to yield the right of way and was hit by Lester’s eastbound SUV.
The wreck remains under investigation. A passenger in Ward’s vehicle who was not identified in the report was also taken to a medical center with serious injuries.
