Tennessee sets new record for most votes in election
Tennessee voters came out in record droves for the 2020 election.
Secretary of State Tre Hargett announced Wednesday that 3,045,401 state residents cast their ballot between early voting and Election Day in-person voting as well as absentee votes, which equates to 68% voter participation. The previous state record was set in the 2008 election when 2.6 million Tennesseans cast their ballot.
National media outlets are estimating that this election could have the highest voter turnout across the country in over a century.
