Former Scott County Administrator Gene Dishner dies at 82
The man who served as Scott County, Virginia’s first County Administrator has passed away.
Gene Dishner, 82, died in Midlothian on Monday, according to official obituary information.
Dishner was a Rye Cove High School and ETSU graduate and took the administrator job in 1968 where he would remain for 10 years. He left that position to become Virginia’s first director of the Department of Housing and Community Development.
Dishner would also serve as director of the Division of Mines, Minerals, and Energy beginning in 2001 until his retirement in 2005.
