UPDATE: Tazewell County suspect in SW Virginia murder case waives extradition

The suspect in a second-degree murder case in Southwest Virginia is back in the Commonwealth.

Gilbert Lee Riggs, 58, of Bluefield, waived extradition in a West Virginia court after being captured last week, according to court information. Riggs is accused in the hit-and-run and murder of a female victim near a convenience store off Interstate 77.

The remains of the woman, who has not been identified, were found in Bland County near the intersection of Arrowhead Drive and Indian Village Trail in Bastian.
